Gizmo’s Fund to help dogs, cats, and their owners during times of need.

Finding out that your pet needs costly diagnostic testing, medication, or surgery is overwhelming. And for pet parents who do not have the financial means to provide the care their companion needs, it can be absolutely devastating.

At Brier Veterinary Hospital, we have seen far too many cases where loving animal owners have been unable to afford the veterinary care their companion needs. For this reason, we established Gizmo’s Fund to help dogs, cats, and their owners during times of need. When you donate to this fund, your money remains in the community and is used to help fund veterinary care (up to $500.00) for local pets in need.

Gizmo’s Story

The Gizmo Fund is named for a former patient of Brier Veterinary Hospital. In December of 2016, Gizmo was diagnosed with a heart murmur. Unable to afford diagnostic testing or medication, his owner chose to relinquish ownership to Brier Veterinary Hospital in January of 2017. Gizmo was then fostered by Paris Huber, who started him on heart medication and cared for him until his passing on April 5, 2020.

From Gizmo’s Foster “Mom,” Paris:

You came into our home as a gremlin foster with many challenges. You immediately stole our hearts and became Brownie’s best friend. You became a vital member of our family, and it is hard to come home without you there. Your quirkiness livened up the household and helped us overcome numerous obstacles. We will be forever grateful for the chance to be your fur parents and will cherish the few years we got to spend with you. You have a very special place in our hearts and left a hole in our family that may never be filled. Your little heart just couldn’t keep up with how much love you had to give. Though you are gone, you will never be forgotten.
