How Ultrasounds Work
Ultrasound equipment can be used to examine your pet’s lymph nodes, spleen, liver, pancreas, heart, intestinal tract, kidneys, eyes, and reproductive organs. Rather than using radiation like x-ray machines, ultrasound equipment uses sound waves to capture images. Also unlike x-rays, ultrasounds provide a complete inside view of an organ.
Ultrasounds are used to diagnose a wide range of problems, including cysts, abscesses, nodules, and masses, that we may not be able to detect during a manual exam or on an x-ray.
